REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The market operations selling beef at Rp80,000 per kilogram are held in 37 places in West Java to help bring down soaring beef price in the current Ramadan fasting month.

"The market operations for beef have been launched since the beginning of Ramadan. The West Java office of state-owned logistics board (Bulog) organized market operations in a number of places," Head of Bulog for West Java, Alip Affandi said here on Sunday.

He said the selling of beef at Rp80,000 per kg was held together with other bazaar programs which sell other food commodities such as cooking oil, wheat flour, rice, garlic, shallots, sugar and chicken.

Alip said the price stabilization program of basic necessities was carried out to help lower prices which were financially reachable by the people, particularly during the fasting month of Ramadan, which usually triggered inflation from the food group of expenditure.

Based on data at the Trade Ministry, the market operations for cheap beef are held in 11 places in Bandung City, 12 places in Bekasi, five places in Bogor, three places in Cirebon and in a number of other places.
