REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Festival Jakarta Great Sale (FJGS) 2012 from June 1 to July 14 is expected to attract more tourists shopping in Indonesia. The Indonesia Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) had promoted the event to Middle East, the Chairman of APPBI, Handaka Santosa, said.
"Apparently, there is only less than one percent of foreign tourists shopping in Indonesia," he said.
The annual event is also expected to increase the economy by improving retail transaction, entertainment, and recreation. This year target for retail transaction is 10 trillion IDR, while last year reaches 8.7 trillion IDR.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo, said FJGS is more attractive and cheaper than Singapore Great Sale. He also recommended Indonesian to come to the event.
FJGS is held in 73 shopping centers. The items are discounted from 10-70 percent. More than 18,000 outlets from national and international are participated.
