REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BINTAN - Indonesian vegetables export to Singapore is recently below 10 percent. But, Indonesia, especially Bintan, Riau, aims to reach 30 percent on vegetables and fruits export to Singapore in 2014.

The area will supply continuously to Singapore. "The memorandum of understanding is already signed by the regent and the investor," the Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, said on Sunday.

Indonesian vegetables, he said, could compete with vegetables from China and Thailand in quality as those countries also supplied Singapore. "Speaking about transportation, Bintan is closer to Singapore. We can be competitive," he added, standardization between supplier and buyer should be made to fulfill the demands.
