REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Pertamina imposed sanction to 30 gas stations located in Central Java, East Java, West Java, North Sumatra, and South Sumatra, by stopping the fuel supply as it illegally stockpiled the fuel.

The Vice President of Corporate Communication in Pertamina, Mochamad Harun, said the consumption of national fuel increased significantly during the last three months. On January, the total consumption reached 3.4 million kilo liter (kl) and 3.5 million kl in February. It could reach 3.7 million kl in March. Normally, he said, with the allocation of 40 million kl a year, the consumption should be 3.2-3.3 million kl.

Pertamina imposes two patterns on giving sanction to the gas stations which illegally stockpiled gasoline. First, if the gas station is proved to stockpile, the fuel will be diverted to another gas station in the same region.

Second, if the gas station proved to stockpile is the only one in the region, the supply will be continued. "But the management is taken over by Pertamina," Harun said on Friday.
