REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUTA – Only fewer tourists visited Kuta Beach on Saturday or one day after Seclusion Day or Balinese New Year. Only a small number of tourists were enjoying the world famous beach in Bali.

Most of the tourists were seen walking around Kuta`s sandy beach since a red flag had been raised, forbidding any swimming due to the sea waves were quite large and the currents were strong.

"Seeing the high waves, I am very eager to surf on this beach," Dave Macharty, a British tourist, said on Saturday. He added, high waves and swift currents were enjoyed by surfers, who came to this beach expecting to take advantage of the surfing.

Earlier Water Tourism Rescue Agency supervisor in Badung district, Nyoman Puja, said her staff had repeatedly reminded visitors to pay attention to red flags or signs that ban entering the water. Besides warning visitors, officials are also monitoring the beaches to keep an eye on those strolling along the shore. Meanwhile, Bali's shopping centres are again open for business, though less busy than normal.
