REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMANGGI – Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) urges Indonesian National Police (Polri) to impose sanction to the officers who are implicated with drugs, to prevent the similar incidents.

The Presidium Chairman of Indonesian Police Watch (IPW), Neta S Pane, said, Polri must impose firm measures by dismissing the officers without waiting for the trial process. “The court is only to strengthen the dismissal measure,” Pane said on Tuesday.

The measure can possibly be conducted due to governmental regulation. Article 13 of Governmental Regulation (PP) number 1/2003 states Indonesian National Police officers can be dismissed with disgrace if he or she against the professional ethics. The longer the process before the dismissal step taken, the more secure the culprit.

Jakarta Police Department has arrested two police officers who have been implicated with drugs. One of them is the Chief of Cibarusah precinct in Bekasi, HBS, who was arrested at his house on Friday for using crystal meth.

Later on Tuesday, police arrested another officer identified as inspector R, who also being implicated proved by the urine test. Jakarta Police Spokesmen, Rikwanto said the suspect admitted that he was only using drugs for the first time.

“He admits to use drugs in a discotheque on Saturday. He will get punishment as the other cases before,” he said.

The two cases were not related, Rikwanto added, since both used different drugs at separate locations. Yet, they know each other because both work for the same institution.
