REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA – The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration plans to revise the steam engine act 1930 (Stoom Ordonnantie) to prevent occupational accident and to meet the technological development. The revision will affect the engine instrument and equipment used in the strategic sectors, such as electrical energy center, sugar, pulp, oil, petrochemical, and textile industry, service center, and small medium enterprise (SME).
The using of steam engine, including the distribution pipe as engine production equipment had increased, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, Muchtar Muthie, said on Wednesday.
“The equipments could cause occupational accidents, blasting, fire, and pollution including the disease because of the mismanagement,” Luthfie said.
“The 1930 act cannot accommodate today’s development. We should revise the policy related to steam engine,” he said. The ministry still opens to any opinion, aspiration, proposal, and advice on the matter to revise law.
