REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- A Russian Pacific Fleet destroyer docked at the Indonesian port of Surabaya on Thursday, Capt. 1st Rank Roman Martov the fleet's spokesman said. The Admiral Panteleyev destroyer is a large anti-submarine ship. Its visit to Indonesia accompanied by the Fotiy Krylov salvage tug and the Boris Butoma tanker, paid a friendly visit to the Indonesian port city of Surabaya on return to their home port in Vladivostok from an anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden.

Martov said that during the visit, officers and sailors of the warships meet with their Indonesian colleagues and tour the city. During its four-month anti-piracy mission, ended on January 15, the ship escorted a number of convoys of civil vessels through pirate-infested waters off the Horn of Africa. The Russian Navy has maintained a presence off the Horn of Africa since October 2008, with warships operating on a rotation basis.
