REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia’s senior anti-corruption investigator Novel Baswedan has been questioned by police investigators on acid attack, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asserted. KPK said Novel had been examined on August 14, 2017 at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
"In order not to be misunderstood by the public, the information that said Novel Baswedan had never been examined by police investigators needs to be clarified," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Wednesday.
Febri said during the police's examination, Novel was accompanied by KPK Chairman Agus Raharjo.

Previously, one of the commissioners of Indonesian Ombudsman Adrianus Meliala said that Novel was not cooperative because he refused to be examined by police investigators. There are four factors of administrative errors found by the Ombudsman, he said.
It includes delay in handling the case, lack of human resources, neglecting the information given by Novel Baswedan as a victim, and administrative aspects of investigation.
"There have been more than 600 days since April 11, 2017, the attackers of Novel are still unidentified. It is very strange if the burden is given to Novel to prove who are the attackers," Febri said.
Police have not yet arrested the attackers who threw acid to Novel, after distributed sketches of the two suspects in early 2018. Some people were arrested after suspected of being the perpetrators, but they were later released because there was no evidence.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono on Tuesday said police investigators had not received any information for investigation report (BAP) from Novel Baswedan to reveal the perpetrators who threw acid at his face. Argo added that Jakarta police investigator applied an inductive and deductive method to investigate the acid attack.
Police need information from the victim to identify motives behind the attack, such as having family problems, having handled certain corruption cases, getting threats or intimidation. Novel Baswedan was attacked by two motorcyclists on April 11, 2017 after praying at Al-Ihsan Mosque near his home in North Jakarta. The attackers threw acid to his face, causing his left eye unable to see.
