REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGELANG -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will be careful in handling cases of Meikarta corruption allegations, especially related to the continuation of the mega project, said KPK Deputy Chair Saut Situmorang. The alleged bribery case for the management of the construction permit for the Meikarta superblock project has dragged the Bekasi Regent Neneng Hasanah Yasin as a suspect.
"We have to be careful in understanding whether the project continues or not. Don't forget, it's economic development, the needs of the house are quite high," he said after attending the KPK bus roadshow at the Magelang City Square, Central Java, on Friday.
Touching on Denny Indrayana's statement in its release stating that the Meikarta project continued, Saut claimed he could not respond further. "Just wait, just be patient, can't respond to it in more detail," he said.

According to him, the KPK will review the case of alleged bribery that is now running and the continuation of its physical project. "We will learn later, indeed development must go on. Yesterday we had debated, for example the Hambalang case, when the case was crowded and then stopped. Although the KPK did not stop it," said Saut.
In the Meikarta case, he said KPK investigators would first study it in detail.
"Later, investigators will study whether corporate crimes and others can be applied or not. So do not rush, do not get it wrong, do not want to fight, so that economic development works and the economy can turn," he said.
Previously, Indrayana Law Office Center for Government, Constitution, and Society (Integrity) as lawyer of PT Mahkota Sentosa Utama (PT MSU), a corporation that develop Meikarta project has made a statement related to red-handed operation by KPK in Bekasi District. PT MSU pledged to uphold anti-corruption principle.
Denny Indrayana as senior integrity partner through a press release on Tuesday (Oct 16) stated PT MSU is a corporation that upholds the principles of good corporate governance. So, the corporation would continue the commitment of rejecting corrupt practices, including bribery in business.
According to Denny, PT MSU deeply regretted the bribery case that allegedly happened. PT MSU immediately conducted objective internal investigation to find out the facts.

“Our first step is immediately conduct an independent and objective internal investigation to find out what the facts actually are," Denny said.
