Two more Constitutional Court's judges examined in bribery allegation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined two judges of Constitutional Court, Anwar Usman and Maria Farida Indrati, as witnesses in bribery allegation related to disputed elections in Gunung Mas (Central Kalimantan) and Lebak (Banten) involving suspended Constitutional Court's chief, Akil Mochtar.

"There is already verdict in the Court," Usman said when he came to KPK's headquarter on Wednesday. He referred to two disputed elections cases, which is still being handled by the Constitutional Court (MK)

Usman and Indrati are members of judges panel led by Mochtar when the dispute election cases handled in the Court.

Before serving in MK, Usman was a former Supreme Court' judge, who onced held position as assistant of Supreme Court's Chief Justice in 1997 to 2003 and head of Civil Service Bureau in the same institution from 2003 to 2006.

Meanwhile Indrati is a professor from Law Faculty University of Indonesia and was previously well-knows as member of experts team in designing various statutory regulations in Indonesia. In this case KPK also summoned seven others who were allegedly connected to the case.

Commission set Mochtar as a suspect of the case after he got busted by KPK investigators for receiving bribes from a lawmaker and businessman in his official house early this month.

In this case KPK seized cash worth 284,050 SGD, 22 thousand USD and total of three billion IDR.

Meantime in a another case of disputed election in Lebak, KPK disclosed that Mochtar and Susi Tur Handayani were the recipients of the briber-taker, and  Tubagus Chaery Wardhana and his friends as the briber giver.

KPK consfiscated money worth one billion IDR put in a blue travel bag at parent's house of Handayani.
