REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Some people are disappointed related to the formation of the President Jokowi's Cabinet. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his apologies to a number of parties or individuals/groups who were not accommodated in the Kabinet Indonesia Maju (Advanced Indonesian Cabinet.)
"What is disappointed is, that, more than 266 million people are disappointed. It means that there are certainly more disappointed than happy people and maybe some of those are disappointed. So, I apologize for not being able to accommodate all of them in the Cabinet because, once again, the space only 34," Jokowi said in his speech at the inauguration of the opening of the 10th Great Conference of Pancasila Youth (PP) at the Sultan Hotel, Saturday (10/26).
Jokowi explained there were 300 names proposed to become candidates for ministers. Therefore, he admitted the cabinet's arrangement was a difficult task because he had to adjust various backgrounds.
"We have to look at matters relating to the region, matters relating to ethnicity, matters relating to religion. All the proportions must be in line with true. Related to the party, with professionals. It is not easy to arrange a cabinet that must be diverse because indeed Indonesia is a Unity in Diversity," The President stressed.
Jokowi explained whether or not being elected in a democracy is normal. The 1945 Constitution also explains that the election of ministers is the prerogative of the president.
"But, I'm sure Indonesia has a noble culture. Indonesia has a Pancasila that unites differences of opinion. Differences in choices are also reasonable, but unity, togetherness, is everything for us," Jokowi said.
