REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan has again asked for assertiveness from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the disclosure of an assault case against him that occurred on April 11, 2017. He personally hope that the president really has a strong will.

According to him, the attack case is not a small and simple problem. So, it needs a courageous attitude from the president, he said.

"It needs great strength which, of course, in this case is the president, whom we hope is the strongest in this country, who leads our country to dare to show a firm attitude, so that this disclosure effort is carried out in earnest and not ignored," he noted.

He again asked Jokowi to immediately form a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) to disclose the case.

"My insistence, from a number of groups including the KPK Employees' Office to the President, is to form a TGPF, so that the steps taken can be more optimal and effective. Of course, it is very embarrassing and very sad when there are state apparatuses that are attacked," he explained.

He revealed that it was very unfortunate if the attack case was ignored. Moreover, it relates to the efforts to eradicate corruption.

"I repeated on several occasions that if this is not revealed, then in the future, people who are fighting for corruption will be afraid that their courage will decrease. I am also worried that the people who have attacked all this time will be more courageous in attacking and very dangerous," Baswedan pointed out.

On Tuesday (Dec 11), it is exactly 609 days after Baswedan was attacked by two motorbike riders on April 11, 2017, after morning prayers at the Al-Ihsan Mosque near his home. The perpetrators splashed acid into Novel's eyes, which injured his left eye.
