Police names Nur Mahmudi Ismail as graft suspect

Nur Mahmudi Ismail allegedly involved in fictious project in Depok, West Java.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- Former Mayor of Depok and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician, Nur Mahmudi Ismail has been named as suspect in corruption case. Police also has determined former regional secretary of Depok City Harry Prihanto as suspect.

"So far, we have two suspects," Head of Corruption Unit of Depok City Resort Police, West Java, Bambang in his office, Tuesday (August 28).

According to Bambang, Nur Mahmudi and Harry were allegedly involved in fictious project of land aquisition for the widening of Jalan Nangka, Sukamaju Village, Tapos Sub-District, Depok, West Java, in 2015. It inflicted to a loss of state funds of Rp10 billion.

The amount of state funds loss was stated in audit result of West Java Provincial Finance and Development Agency (BPKP). The fictious project has been investigated since 2017. The police have examined 87 witnesses and case expose was done in January 2018.

The fictious project was relateed to land aquisition for 500-meter-long Jalan Nangka with a width of six meters. Previously, the road has already been freed by the developer who built Green Lake View Apartment in Cimanggis, Depok.
