REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator Novel Baswedan has back to work on Friday (July 27). He was welcomed by a number of the anti-graft institution leaders when arrived at KPK building in Jakarta at around 9.00 WIB (Indonesia West Standard Time).
Novel was grateful to work again as KPK investigator. He admitted to have forgive the assailants. However, he would not stop pressuring to get the case solved.
Novel urged President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to intervene because he assessed National Police has no intention to solve the case.
“Why didn't I push National Police chief or the institution directly? Because they don’t want to reveal my case,” said Novel on Friday (July 27).

According to Novel, he did not want the investigation against his attack case to be stopped because it was related to the other attack cases experienced by KPK staffs. Therefore, it must be disclosed completely to support KPK's duty to eradicate corruption.
Novel has been trying to recover from acid attack that struck him a year ago. He was attacked by two motorcyclists that hurled acid on his face that injured his eyes, particularly the left eye. Novel was fatally attacked while heading home after performing Fajr, or the Dawn prayer, at a mosque nearby his house in North Jakarta.
Novel has had undergone a series of medical treatment in Singapore to recover his sight. On February 22, Novel arrived in Indonesia. However, due to his condition, Novel could not work as KPK investigator yet. The doctor advised him to totally rest and wait for the second phase surgery of his left eye.

Investigation
Jakarta Police spokesman Argo Yuwono asserted until now the investigators are still trying to find the perpetrators. Investigators continued to collect evidence and testimony of witnesses to reveal the case. But until now there was no strong evidence nor witness statements that lead to the assailants.
“Surely we are still investigating and searching, we are still looking for information,” Argo said.
Previously, in an interview Novel claimed if he had received information that a police general or a high-level police official was involved in the attack on him. As one of KPK's top investigator, he has led investigations into several high-profile cases. Including the ongoing e-ID embezzlement case that has implicated several lawmakers and high-ranking government officials.
