REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, The government plans to officially open Trans-West Papua road this year. The province's governor, Dominggus Mandacan, said here on Monday the National Road Project Unit XVII West Papua is currently working hard to finish its development that will connect districts and the province.

He said he hoped the inauguration could be done soon after the Eid al-Fitr holiday and he also hoped that President Joko Widodo would be present at the ceremony.

He said he had informed about it unofficially at a meeting with the President during the latter's visit to Sorong in April. At the time President Joko Widodo gave a positive response to the plan and wished to ride a motorcycle through Trans-West Papua and Papua.

"We just wait. What is certain is that preparation is being made for the opening of the Trans-West Papua. Hopefully the President would be able to come," he said.
