REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Parinah, an Indonesian migrant worker who had been losing contact with her family for 18 years, will return to her home country on Wednesday. The embassy of Indonesia in London had facilitated the repatriation of Parinah through Garuda Indonesia flight (GA87) on Tuesday, the embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.

Parinah will arrive in Jakarta at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday at 18:15 local time.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency of Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) will welcome Parinah at the airport and assist her travel to her hometown and family in Banyumas District, Central Java Province.

Parinah had been locked up by her employer for 18 years. Parinah first arrived in UK on 2001 after working with the same employer in Saudi Arabia since 1999.

The employer did not allow Parinah to go outside the house without companion of the family member. Moreover, she was not allowed to contact her family in Indonesia and never received the salary from the employer.

On 29 January 2018 Parinah's family had filed a report of Parinah's disappearance and requested the Indonesian Government to solve the case. On April 5 2018, local police of Brighton managed to release Parinah from her employer's house in Brighton, England.

On that day, the police had also arrested the employer along with four family members for modern slavery allegation.

The Indonesian Embassy in London will continue coordinating with local police of the UK for Parinah's case and help to restore the rights of the migrant worker in accordance with the existing law.
