REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi is scheduled to visit Moscow, Russia, from March 12 to 13. She will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.
"The main purpose of the visit is to conduct a bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov," Spokesperson of Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir said during a press briefing here on Thursday.
Marsudi will discuss efforts taken by the two countries to improve their cooperation in the field of economy. In 2017, the trade volume between Indonesia and Russia reached US$2.5 billion, increasing 20 percent from 2016.
Nasir revealed that Indonesia, among the ASEAN members, is the largest trading country to Russia. Indonesia's main commodities to Russia include coffee, palm oil, electronic appliances, shoes, and clothing.
In the field of investment, Russia has invested around $4.7 million worth of investment in Indonesia.
During the visit, Marsudi will also discuss the preparation of a planned visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Indonesia.
From Russia, Marsudi will depart to Sydney, Australia, to accompany Indonesian President Joko Widodo to attend the ASEAN-Australia special summit and a series of meeting expected to take place from March 15 to 18.
Widodo and Marsudi are also scheduled to continue their state visit to New Zealand on March 19, soon after they conclude their visit to Australia.
