REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Formwork pier head on Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road near Kebon Nanas toll gates in East Jakarta collapsed on early Tuesday (Feb 20). Seven workers injured in the incident.
East Jakarta Police head, Yoyon Toni said six workers trapped under the wreckage. They were rushed to UKI Cawang Hospital, East Jakarta. Yoyon said, the victims not seriously injured. Meanwhile, one other worker is severely injured on the head.
"One worker who get seriously injured has been referred to National Police hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta," said Yoyon on Tuesday (Feb 20).
Yoyon said police will conduct an investigation and examine the witnesses in the scene. Center for Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) from National Police will also be involved.
"From the results that we can later conclude whether there is an element of neglect or standard operating procedure that is not executed so that the accident occurred," he added.
The list of the victims are Supri, Kirpan, Sarmin, Rusman, Joni, and Agus who treated at Cawang UKI Hospital. One victim who treated at National Police Kramat Jati hospital is Waldi.
Meanwhile, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk as the contractor explained initial cause of the incident has been identified. Head of III Division Waskita Karya Dono Parwoto said the incident occured at 03:00 am.
"The formwork collapsed during the moulding of pier head, the concrete was still wet," he said. Formwork is a temporary molds used to hold concrete during concrete are poured.
Becakayu project had been stalled for 21 years. President Joko Widodo said project was restarted in 2015. He inaugurated Sections 1b and 1c, measuring 8.26 kilometers (km) in length, of the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Toll Road on November 3, 2017 morning.
The president said the Becakayu toll road will facilitate the residents of Bekasi and its surrounding areas to gain easy access to and from Jakarta.
Construction of the Becakayu toll road is being carried out in phases, with Section I stretching 11.9 km; Section II, 4.1 km; and Section III, with a length of 7.8 km.
