REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit has increased the status of alleged case of falsification of document and abuse of authority by the Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahadjo and his deputy Saut Situmorang to full investigation.

Public Relations of National Police Inspector General Setyo Wasisto said, the two KPK leaders were reported by Sandy Kurniawan for proposing extension of period of overseas deterrence against House of Representatives speaker Setya Novanto (Setnov).

"The case is a criminal act of making false letter or falsifying letter and / or abuse of authority allegedly committed by Agus Rahardjo, Saut Situmorang and friends," Setyo said at Police Headquarters on Wednesday (November 8).

Setyo explained, Saut as KPK leader has sent Letter on request for prevention for traveling abroad to the Directorate General of Immigration on October 2, 2017

The letter was submitted after South Jakarta District Court judge Cepi Iskandar accepted Setnov's pretrial motion. Judge Cepi stated on September 29, 2017, that the naming of Setnov as a suspect was not based on appropriate procedures.

The police have examined a number of witnesses related to the case. "One linguist, three criminal experts and one constitutional lawyer have been questioned," Setyo remarked.

After examining witnesses, the police conducted case review and decided to issue investigation warrant dated November 7. "We have increased the status into full investigation," Setyo said.

Nevertheless, the police have not named any suspect on the case as they were still collecting evidences and examining more witnesses.

Meanwhile, junior prosecutor for general crimes in the Attorney General's Office, Noor Rachmad said SPDP form police has been received.
