REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ahead of simultaneous regional elections on Wednesday (Feb 15), Chairman of People Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan appealed to all Indonesian citizens to avoid all forms of money politics. He reminded that the sovereignty and power are entirely in the hands of the people. "Do not trade the sovereignty with money nor basic commodities (sembako)," he said in the Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Zulkifli said regional election was a contestation among the nation's children. He reiterated, "Whoever wins the election, the winner is the citizens."

Zulkifli asked all elements of the country to secure the elections. He hoped the elections run well, safe, and peaceful. He also reminded the Election Committe, the Election Supervisory Body and the law enforcement officers to stay neutral and independent. "The choice may be different, but unity and brotherhood should remain as primary," he remarked.
