REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of the Interior Tjahjo Kumolo vowed to respect aspirations of the members of House of Representatives regarding the reactivation of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as Jakarta governor. On Saturday (Feb 11), Ahok has gained his seat back in the City Hall after his leave campaign period was over. "This is the first time for the Interior Ministry to experience a very complicated case related to what has happened to Ahok," Tjahjo explained.

Tjahjo said the previous cases has a clear indictment, not like Ahok's case. Therefore, he said he got a compelling reasons for not deactivating Ahok from his governorship. However, Ahok has been indicted with the defamation of religion. "He was indicted with alternative charges," he said shortly after hearing (RDP) with the Election Committee bill on Monday.

Meanwhile, the pressure against Interior Minister was getting stronger each day. On Monday, four factions of the House of Representatives proposed the right of inquiry. "Because of this problem of interpretation, I would like to convey the issue to the Supreme Court and ask for its opinion," he remarked.
