REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Chairman of Indonesian Muslim Brotherhood (Parmusi) Usamah Hisyam urged President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to revoke HM Prasetyo from his postition as Attorney General. It was said as a respond to the prosecution by public prosecutors in Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok’s case.

“Dismiss the Attorney General! Please, write it in uppercase,” he said to Republika.co.id on Tuesday (April 25).

Usamah said the attorney general should be chosen from the professionals, not politician. Politics should be controlled by the law. It should be a consideration in reshuffling Prasetyo.

Usamah said Parmusi mobilized about 300 members to monitor Ahok’s trial today. The prosecution was argued to be like a scenario of attorney’s officials to protect Ahok.

“We think the drag on trial ended with non-punishment is weird. Ahok statement is clearly a blasphemy,” said him.

Usamah said it was important to be firm in deciding the punishment for blasphemy case. So, there would be a deterrent effect to the society. And then, there would no more blasphemy to all religions. With the discourse of cabinet reshuffle, Usamah hoped Prasetyo would be revoke from his position.

Central Board of Indonesian Muslim Students’ Association (PP KAMMI) shared the same opinion. They showed strict reaction by calling the people to support their petition to dismiss Attorney General.

Deputy Chairman of the association, Arif Susanto, insisted that KAMMI would never keep silent if President Jokowi did not respond their aspiration. He said KAMMI planned to mobilize all its member in Indonesia urging the dismissal of Prasetyo.

“We will conduct demonstration in all over Indonesia and to call for people’s sign through online petition in Change.org,” said Arif.

The online petition was made on Wednesday (April 19). It got 13,224 supporters on Tuesday afternoon. Arif believed that the number of supporters would increase continuously.
