REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Campaign to use biofuels (BBN) is getting its positive results. Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) claimed that the use of biofuels has exceeded 100 percent. The 70 percent target set was successfully surpassed.

Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Rida Mulyana said, so far the program is effective. "For PSO [the result] is 102 percent," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/12).

Rida said, the use of biofuels implemented not only on the three provinces set by PT Pertamina (Persero) such as in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Java. The three provinces were set a target of achieving 70 percent biofuel use.

More provinces, he explained, have switched to use biofuel. The result was the increase of the use of biofuels and the decrease of foreign exchange expenditure to import fuel oil (BBM).
