REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government is scheduled to discuss the Hajj pilgrimage cost (BPIH) 2017 with the House of Representatives (DPR) on Friday (March 24), Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said.

"On Friday, there will be a coordination meeting between the House Commission VIII and the government to set BPIH," Lukman stated, after attending a ministerial level coordination meeting to discuss the realization of hajj pilgrimage for 2017, here on Wednesday.

Also present at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Health Minister Nila F Moeloek, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and officials of relevant ministries and institutions.

Lukman expressed hope that the BPIH 2017 could be set as soon as possible so that the government could make better preparations for the Hajj pilgrimage.

He remarked that the meeting with the House Commission VIII on Friday (March 24) will discuss several issues. Therefore, the BPIH 2017 could be set on Friday as scheduled.

He also expressed hope that the BPIH 2017 could be set in such an objective and reasonable way that no Hajj pilgrim would be harmed.

The BPIH 2017 must be calculated accurately by, among others, taking into account the fluctuation of aviation turbine (avtur) fuel prices, he noted.

"Hence, it must be calculated accurately to achieve a reasonable BPIH," he revealed.
