REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gatot Nurmayanto revealed his plan after retiring on next April 1. He had some wishes, one of those is to spend more time with family, children, and grandchildren.

"I want to enjoy more leisure time with my family," Gatot said during his visit to Republika office on Wednesday (March 28).

Will he be running for presidential election? Gatot said he wanted to be an independent person shortly after retirement. He also wished to be able to set his schedule independently and does not need to adjust to the protocol. It has been attached to his life as TNI officers.

However, Gatot recently has met with Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto and it brought a speculation whether he will be running in 2019 presidential election with Gerindra. Gatot admitted the meeting was only part of friendship with the nation's leaders.

Gatot said he has also met with Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) general chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Democratic Party general chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

"So it's like a kinship meeting to the nation figures and to thanked them," Gatot added.

Then, what will he be after retiring? Gatot said he did not dare to dream. "I'm afraid of dreaming, because my dreams often came true. That's why I'm afraid to imagine what will I be after retiring," he remarked.
