Jakarta celebrates Persija's victory

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan and his deputy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, along with a great number of supporters of the Jakarta's soccer team Persija celebrated the Persija's victory here on Sunday.

Anies and Sandiaga, along with the Persija's supporters better known as Jakmania, who flocked together in front of the city hall, welcomed the Persija's team players in the afternoon, while cheering and singing over the victory.

The atmosphere became more lively when the governor, who wore the Persija's orange costume, mingled with the Persija supporters.

On Saturday night (Feb 17), the Jakarta`s team Persija successfully won the 2018 President Cup preseason tournament after crushing the Bali Provincial soccer team of Bali United 3-0.

The final round of 2018 President Cup, which was also watched by around 68 thousand spectators including President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and several ministers, took place at Jakarta`s Bung Karno Sports Stadium.
