REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Expert Team head, Sofjan Wanandi said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has received four names of Bank Indonesia governor candidates. The four candidates are Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) Bambang Brodjonegoro, the former of Minister of Finance for 2013-2014 Muhammad Chatib Basri, Perry Warjiyo who currently serves as BI Deputy Governor, and lastly Agus Martowardoyo, who is in the position right now.

"There are four names and they will be considered and discussed with president and vice president," said Sofjan on Friday (Feb 9).

According to Sofjan, president already knew about the advantages and disadvantages of each candidate. "We will just wait for the president's decision because he already knew as details about each candidate," Sofjan added.

Previously, Jokowi has said that anyone he will recommend to replace Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo must be trusted by both the market and public. Agus is set to retire in May, but he still has the chance to serve in the next round.

"The person must be trusted by the market for his capability in dealing with macro economics and monetary aspects and inflation, also he should be trusted by the public," said Jokowi.

The selection of BI Governor candidates is the authority of president. Jokowi later will propose the candidate of his choice to Finance Commission at House of Representatives (DPR) and then a fit and proper test will be started.
