SBY reports his lawyer, Setnov: It's Mr Firman's business!

Firman says the advocate's immunity protected him.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Defendant in e-ID card procurement graft case, Setya Novanto (Setnov) was reluctant to to comment on the police report filed by former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) against his attorney, Firman Wijaya. He said it was Firman's business. "I don't know. It's Mr Firman's business!" he said after being examined by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)'s investigators as witness for suspect Anang Sugiana Sudihardjo, at KPK office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (Feb 6).

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Firman said he did not worry on the report. He believed he has done no misconduct. "I'm just doing my job as advocate. I'm only an ordinary people who works every day to fight for justice. I'm nobody," he said when confirmed on Tuesday.

According to Firman, advocate's immunity protected him. He stood behind the applicable law. "Just read the decision of the Constitutional Court and the Law on Advocates, all about professional immunity," he reiterated. 

Yudhoyono has filed a police report against Firman to National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit in an alleged defamation case, on Tuesday (Feb 6) afternoon. He refused assistance from his former ministers who served the country from 2004 to 2014. "This is my war," he said.

Yudhoyono accused Firman has slandered him by saying that the e-ID card procurement was controlled by the party who won 2009 General Election. 

SBY also mentioned the rumor of the circulation of Setya Novanto's notebook with Edi Baskoro Yudhoyono alias Ibas's name on it. He believed there was a scenario and conspiration to slander his family behind it. "Ahead of political year, the slander has been a a big question mark. This is my struggle, my jihad. A fight to get justice in the beloved country. It might be a long road. But, I will not stop," he remarked.
