REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Committee III of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Fahira Idris asked David Nicholas to surrender himself to the police. Fahira assessed, David should be responsible for his insulting tweet against Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

"His action violates the law. It will be very dangerous for the nation if the case is not processed legally," she said on Tuesday (December 5).

Fahira has collected evidences needed to sue David. She hoped, the police would process the case immediately.

David was reported to National Police Crimnal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) over alleged blasphemy, on Monday. David through his Twiiter account @dhefohayama said a very insulting tweet about Prophet Muhammad PBUH, Fahira stated.

According to Fahira, she already got many complaints from the society related to other social media accounts that spread hatred and insulted Prophet MUhammad PBUH. She asked everyone who finds such cases not hesitated to file a police report.

"Don't hesitate to report, as long as the evidences are strong, there is no reason for the police not to process our complaint. We must fight whoever insulted Prophet Muhammad PBUH together," Fahra said.

David Nicolas is suspected to violated the law of defamation through ITE. He could be snared with three articles, namely Article 156a and Article 45 paragraph 2 juncto Article 28 paragraph 2 with the threat of sentence of six years in prison.
