REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) is holding a fit and proper test for Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, a candidate for the post of Indonesia's Military (TNI) commander, at the Commission I on Wednesday.

"I hope others too will pray, so that I can clear the fit and proper test with ease," Tjahjanto stated here.

Tjahjanto arrived at the DPR building on Wednesday morning, accompanied by TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army General Mulyono, and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Ade Supandi.

Tjahjanto said the test held significance for him before taking on the new role.

Meanwhile, General Nurmantyo said he along with the two chiefs of staff had escorted Tjahjanto to the DPR as a mark of respect from the higher ranks.

He stated that the military is ready to be led by Tjahjanto after his appointment as the TNI commander.

"It is my honor to accompany him to the DPR. The president has suggested the name of the Indonesian Air Force chief of staff as a candidate for the post of TNI commander," Nurmantyo remarked.

Nurmantyo said he will hand over the charge of TNI commander to Tjahjanto when the DPR selects the marshal for the position.

After escorting Tjahjanto to the Nusantara II building in the DPR area, the three generals left the complex to accomplish other tasks.
