REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Member of the House of Representatives' Honorary Board (MKD), Maman Imanulhaq said, the Board could not set time limit on Setya Novanto resignation.
He said, the Golkar party has the rights to determine the replacement of House speaker.
According to Maman, examination ran by MKD team on Novanto only focused on alleged ethics violation. MKD did not have the authority to push Novanto to resign.
"MKD examines whether there was a violation or not. But the party which the most entitled to determine the replacement of House speaker is Golkar faction," said Maman when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Monday (December, 4).
So far, Maman said, MKD has not drew any conclusion on Novanto case. MKD needed confirmation from several other parties.
Maman explained that the authority of MKD is only related to Article 87 of the MD3 Act.
"We will seek whether in carrying out his duties there were violations of ethics such as violating the oath of office or any bad intention," he said.
Novanto will be questioned by MKD for the second time on Tuesday (December 5).
