REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- At least 18 thousand guests from 189 countries will participate in the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings on October 9-14, 2018, in Bali.

"The same event was held in Washington D.C., the US, in 2017, and 15 thousand guests participated in it. The number of participants at the Bali meeting is estimated at 18 thousand," Peter Jacobs, the head of 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings Unit, noted here on Tuesday.

Jacobs stated that the event will be attended by the finance ministers and central bank governors from 189 countries.

He added that the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings are very strategic for the Indonesian economy.

"The expenditure of at least 15 thousand people in Bali for a week may reach up to Rp100 million. This is a short-term benefit. The long-term benefits will be to introduce Indonesian tourism and investment potential," he noted.

During the annual meeting, there will be more than two thousand side events, such as seminars, investment forums, focus group discussions, workshops, and cultural events.

The main objective of hosting the meetings is showcasing Indonesia and Asia as reformed, resilient, and progressive economies.
