REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Spokesperson of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Febri Diansyah confirmed that the anti-graft body investigators came to Setya Novanto's house on Wednesday night.
Febri said, the investigators were trying to persuade the House of Representatives speaker to surrender.
Moreover, Novanto has been ignoring series of KPK's summonses, either as witness nor suspect of e-ID card procurement corruption case.
"Persuasively, we ask SN (Setya Novanto) to surrender," Febri said at his office on Thursday (November 16).
Meanwhile, dozens of mobile brigade police secured Novanto's house at Wijaya XIII Street number 19, South Jakarta, since Wednesday night.
There has been no confirmation whether Novanto is in his house. Based on the monitoring of Republika.co.id reporter, Novanto's lawyer, Fredrich Yunadi is seen at his client house.
Golkar politician Mahydin said, he did not see Novanto when visiting the Golkar party chairman's house on Wednesday night.
"He was not at home. There were only his wife, servants, and his lawyer," he said.
On Wednesday, Fredrich explained, Novanto took his lawyers advise to miss the summon to be questioned as suspect in e-ID card procurement graft case on the same day. Novanto's team of lawyers believed permission from the president should be aquired first.
Beside that, Fredrich said as House of Representatives speaker, Novanto has Parliamentary immunity.
On November 10, KPK has named Setnov as suspect in e-ID card graft case for the second time.
The first was in July. The Golkar party chairman won the pretrial motion against KPK on September 29 and clear his status as suspect.
