Participants of 55 rally start to gather at Istiqlal and At-Tin mosque

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Participants of 55 rally started to gather at several meeting points in Jakarta. They spend the night at Istiqlal mosque (Central Jakarta) and At-Tin mosque (East Jakarta). 

One of the security personnel namely Taman, who goes by one name, estimated hundreds of people have come from Jakarta and other provinces to Istiqlal mosque on Thursday (May 4) night. 

"They were coming from Purwakarta (West Java), Pekanbaru (Riau), Pontianak (West Kalimantan), Palembang (South Sumatra) and Medan (North Sumatra)." he said.

Taman said the mass came in small groups. He estimated the number will hikes in the morning. 

The mass began to flow to At-Tin mosque since Thursday morning. The earliest group arrived was coming from Purworejo (Central Java). Two buses carried them to Jakarta. 

Later in the afternoon, more people from Purworejo arrived. "At 21:00 pm, there were three buses coming from Surabaya (East Java)," security officer of At-Tin mosque, Faturahman, said to Republika.co.id on Thursday night.  

Based on Republika.co.id observation, until 00:15 am on Friday, totally there were seven buses of mass at At-Tin mosque.

Meanwhile, the Al Ma'mur mosque at Tanah Abang (Central Jakarta) was still empty. According to the coordinator of visitors, Anang, the participants of 55 rally were still hampered at some points. "Three buses and several cars from Kuningan District, West Java were stopped at Cirebon," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Friday.

Anang said he received information that the mass from Madura (East Java) also being stopped at Cikampek, West Java. "I heard it from friends," he said.
