KPK urges civil servants not to use official cars for homecoming

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has urged civil servants (PNS) and state officials not to use official cars for private purposes, include homecoming.

"We urge the leaders of any government agencies or state agencies prohibit the use of official facilities, such as official cars for homecoming activities," Director of Gratification KPK, Giri Suprapdiono said at the KPK building, Jakarta, Friday (24/6).

Giri added, many people are asking about mechanism operational of the official cars before Eid.

"If the societies find a officer use official cars during Eid momentum, you can report it," said Giri.

Besides, the Commission also called for civil servants and state officials to deny gratification during Eid. In the explanation of Article 12B Law No.20 of 2001 on the Corruption mentioned that gratification include giving money, goods, discount, commissions, interest-free loans, travel tickets, lodging, tours, free medical treatment, and facilities to any other civil servants and officials of state officials.

People are referred to as civil servants and state officials are civil servants, military / police, employees of state / local-owned enterprises, agencies officers, workers of state / local-owned enterprises at all levels.

When the gift consisted of food that easily broken and expired in a short time, KPK recommend that gift can given to orphanages, nursing homes, and others who need that.

However, the gift should be reported to each agency with estimated price and give the explanations and documentation as evidence.
