REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Defense Minister Retired General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin admitted that the AU military through the Ministry of Defence will buy Chengdu J-10 fighter jets from China. In fact, Sjafrie confirmed, 4.5 generation fighter jets will soon arrive in Jakarta.
“It will soon be flying in Jakarta,” Sjafrie said in response to Republika's question at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (15/10/2025). Only, Sjafrie did not explain the specifications of the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC) fighter jet.
The Ministry of defense is reportedly targeting 42 Chengdu J-10 fighter jets. According to Republika Sovereign President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Beijing, China in September, one of which discussed a number of defense cooperation, including the purchase of Vigorous Dragon jets.
The Republika briefly asked Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force Marsdya Tedi Rizalihadi about the plans of the Indonesian Air Force to purchase Chengdu J-10 fighter jets when it is on the agenda at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 1, 2025. He justified the policy, but related specifications were left to the Ministry of Defense as executor.
