REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The security budget of local elections (Pilkada) for the National Police was still lacking. Currently there were only about half of the proposed budget of around Rp 1 trillion.

National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Badrodin Haiti said that if there were regions that did not have a budget for its security, then he would recommend that the election be postponed.

"We can recommend to regions which don’t have budget to be postponed," said Badrodin when met at the parliament complex, Senayan, on Thursday, July 2.

Badrodin added to the regions that have budgets, the police was ready to do security. However, about the recommendation whether there will be regions that delayed, according to Badrodin, it was not final. Therefore, there were efforts to be made to get the security budget of local elections.

Police will discuss security budget with the Home Affairs Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo. The meeting was also to discuss the efforts to seek additional budget to fulfill the security budget of local election. In addition to the Home Affairs Minister, the underfunding issue of security will also be discussed with local government.

He admitted that the security budget of local election was still lacking. However, the number will continue to decline. The deficiency was no longer at the rate of Rp 739 billion.

"Not that much (shortcomings), there has been progress, still less but not that much, around Rp 500 billion," he said.
