Police assign 150 personnel for West Papua

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANOKWARI -- The Chief of Papua Provincial Police, Inspector General Yotje Mende, said his institution will assign 150 personnel for deployment in the West Papua Provincial Police.

"Among the 150 personnel, 23 will be assigned as high officers as required by police organizations, particularly the West Papua Provincial Police," Yotje stated here on Friday (21/11)

The Chief noted that the 23 police officers will have to undergo fit-and-proper tests before getting designated as high-ranking officials with the West Papua Police.

"We will also ask the personnel who will be deployed to West Papua Police Province to undergo the test," Yotje added.

The Inspector General remarked that those personnel whose families are in Manokwari area will be given priority for deployment in West Papua.

The organization, according to Yotje, prefers policemen hailing from Manokwari because the region has yet to get a police housing complex.

The building for the West Papua Provincial Police headquarters is ready and its furnishing will be completed next week.
