Muslim World Biz's transaction below the target

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Transaction in Muslim World Biz Conference and Exhibition 2012 held last week reached 14 million USD. The number is below the expectation.

The conference, attended by 250 representatives from 32 countries, was visited by 12,500 people. The Chairman of Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Eddy Kuntadi, warmly welcomed consumers and businessmen respond towards the 3rd Muslim World Biz 2012.

"It is our effort to provide opportunity for people to explore international business in Islamic countries," Kuntadi said in a press release.

Through the event, he hopes Kadin's vision to make Indonesia as the center of food, fashion, fun, and fundamental education can be accomplished. "Indonesia will have reliable economic power within Muslim world community," he said.

Despite low number of transaction, he hopes the event to be meeting forum for businessmen of OIC members. He also hopes the visitors can use the event to improve Indonesian industry.

Minister of Trade MS Hidayat said businessmen could study featured products from each country in this forum. The Ministry helps facilitating small industries to market the products internationally.
