May there will be no more despotism in Jakarta: Yusril

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Star Cresent party (PBB) Yusril Ihza Mahendra expected Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno able to make Jakarta a better, fairer and more dignified city. Moreover, the people have given them the opportunity to struggle as Jakarta governor and deputy governor.

"Hopefully, Mr. Anies and Mr. Sandi can make Jakarta better, fairer, and more dignified. May there will be no more despotism against the poor in Jakarta," he said at City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Monday.

He hoped there will no more evictions in Jakarta. Even so, he expected there should be improvements of slum areas.

"There must be improvements in slum areas and they should provide job opportunities to the people," he remarked while explaining his plan to run in 2019 presidential election.

Commenting on reclamation projects, Yusril advised Anies and Sandi to consult further with experts. Moreover, the project has been started and has caused impacts.

"It requires a wise solution, so it still can bring benefit," he said.
