REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The construction of Indonesian hospital (RSI) in Gaza, Palestine, keeps continued and expected to finish by the end of 2012. “We are optimistic that the constructing will be ready in time. In December, the building is done,” the Presidium Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), Joserizal Jurnalis, said, on Monday.

Jurnalis added, the process of constructing had been constrained with several problems, such as weathers. In addition, Israeli blockade hampered the access to get construction material supply. “We were obstructed last month. But now I hope everything is fine,” he said.

Rima Manzanaris, the Operational Manager of Mer-C, explained, her organization split the building of the hospital into three stages. First stage is to build the structure and the second is to construct architecturally, mechanically, and electrical system. The last stage is to complete the operational necessity for the hospital.

The structure was built eight months ago. The experts are from Indonesia, while the field staffs are locals. The first stage costs 10 billion IDR. The building area in the first stage is 9.200 meter square with 2.5 stories.

The first stage construction has reached 83 percents today. The construction, including the contents, costs 30 billion IDR. However, the fund rising from Indonesian donation is still 19.5 billion IDR. According to Manzanaris, the fund comes from Indonesian society, not the government.

The hospital will have 100 bedrooms. There are also ICU room, X-Ray, workplace for making prosthetic hand and leg, and rehabilitation. “We plan to have the trauma center for the war victim,” she added. The trauma center is a treatment room for the victim suffering for fracture.

The hospital will be a unique building in Gaza as it is designed in the form of octahedron, like Qubbah Sakhra near Masjid al-Aqsha. The location of the hospital is near the border of Israeli settlement.

Indonesian Committee for Palestine Solidarity (Kispa) also contributes. According to the Head of Kispa, Ferry Nur, the Gaza citizens need the humanitarian aid because Israel still impose blockade in the area. While the weather in Gaza makes it worst. The cold weather is now 10 Celsius degree. Gaza citizen needs warm clothes to counter the cold weather. Nur has sent the funding aid from Indonesia.

Kispa is cooperated with other organization in Gaza. On December 2011 until January 2012, Kispa sent 150 million IDE to Gaza. He encourages Indonesians to always keep Gaza in their mind and help Gazans. “You can help by sending aids and/or prayer,” he said.

Until now, Kispa is socializing the wakf program of Quran Mushaf al-Aqsa to remind Indonesian Muslims that the holy mosque is threatened to be destroyed by Israel. So far there have been 10.000 people participated in this program.
