REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- A number of delegates attending the High-Level Consultation of World Muslim Scholars on Wasatiyyat (moderate) Islam (HLC-WS) are committed to disseminating the results obtained from the event to people in their home country. The delegates consider the results, in the form of Bogor Message, as a way of advancing the understanding of Islam as a religion of peace and love.
"This message should not stop here. We should make sure the message not only goes to fellow Muslims but also to the world," the Deputy Secretary General of the High Council of Islamic Cooperation of Nigeria, Salisu Shehu, told Antara here on Thursday.
According to him, by disseminating the ideas obtained at this meeting, the world will be more "educated" in understanding the meaning of Islam.
He also encouraged other delegates to keep their spirits and hopes to continue working with similar agendas in subsequent years.
Meanwhile, an Afghan scholar, Sayed Salahuddin Hashimi, also has the same commitment.
According to him, the result of the meeting contained in Bogor Message is actually a global message that requires real actions and can be implemented in the participating countries.
"When returning home, each scholar must ensure that this high-level meeting can take effect in the respective country in accordance with the rules and directives agreed in this meeting," Hashimi stated.
About 100 prominent Muslim clerics and scholars from a number of countries, including Indonesia, participated in the HLC-WSW Summit, which took place in Bogor, West Java, from May 1 to 3.
The Bogor message, as the result of the meeting, was read out by the Indonesian President's Special Envoy for Dialogue and Interreligious Cooperation and Civilization, Din Syamsuddin, in Bogor on Thursday.
The Bogor Message mentions the modern civilization which is being under uncertainty and disturbance on a global scale. On the other hand, Islam, as the religion of peace, love, justice, and civilization, has been practiced since the long history of Islamic civilization from the time of Prophet Muhammad to the modern era.
The world's scholars and intellectuals should ensure the building of Islamic civilization for the next generation.
