Yusril welcomes Jimly's recommendation for HTI to join PBB

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Crescent Star Party (PBB) Yusril Ihza Mahendra welcomed recommendation given by Chairman of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) Jimly Asshiddiqie about Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). As reported by Republika.co.id on Monday, Jimly suggested HTI members, whose the organization had been dissolved by the government, to join PBB.

"The Crescent Star Party is ready to welcome HTI and FPI. Of course I hope they can understand and accept the constitution and bylaws, principles, programs, and goals of PBB," said Yusril through short messages to Republika.co.id, Tuesday.

According to Yusril, Crescent Star Party is based on Islam party that accept Pancasila as philosophy and foundation of the Republic of Indonesia. "PBB considers Pancasila as kalimatin sawa bainana wa bainahum or meeting point between our people, under Bhineka Tunggal Ika," Yusril added.

The former 11th Secretary of State believed that HTI leaders and members can accept the principles PBB. HTI and FPI are also believed to recognize PBB as a forum for political struggle that upholds Islam and nationalism of Indonesia with its pluralistic community.

"Therefore, I think, Prof Jimly's recommendation is a positive suggestion and I hope it will get positive response from HTI and FPI members," Yusril explained.
