REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Leaders of a number of Islamic organizations that are members of Islamic People's Forum (FUI) called on all Muslims to vote in simultaneous regional elections 2017, including in Jakarta, on Wednesday (Feb 15).

"Looking at the dynamics of national politics, especially in Jakarta, leaders of Islamic organizations appealed to all Muslims to use their right to vote in a responsible manner," said the Secretary General of FUI Muhammad Al Khaththath in a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

FUI asked all Muslims to pray to God to be given the strength to vote for a leader who is faithful, devoted, honest, intelligent, civilized and able to fulfill their duty with full responsibility over the next five years.

FUI also hoped all instruments of the regional election organizers, namely Election Commission and the Election Supervisory Body, as well as law enforcement officers to be fully responsible in carrying out their duty in the democratic party event. For the sake of justice, FUI also urged law enforcers to take stern action against any act of cheating.
