'None of Alquran verse guides people to the wrong path'

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Council of  Ulama (MUI) Religious Harmony affairs chairman Yusnar Yusuf stated Alquran is a noble guidance for human being. "None of Alquran verse have element that deceit people to the wrong path," he told Republika.co.id on Monday (10/17).

Muslim's life could not be separated from Islamic teaching. "Whenever someone is using Alquran verse in daily life, the purpose is to do good deed," he said.

Yusnar urged all religious communities in Indonesia, especially Muslims, to avoid violence, both physical nor verbally. Religious harnomy is needed by the nation. "Indonesia needs peaceful conducive situation to develop planning on religious communities," he said.

In the contrary, the split among the people could harm the unity of Indonesia. "To strengthen democracy, we should live together in peace and harmony," he said.

He explained that the MUI is the largest insstitution that comprise of ulamas from all Islamic organizations in Indonesia. Thus, promoting and maintaining religious harmony in Indonesia is one of the MUI task."Insya Allah (God willing), the MUI since its establishment always uphold the religious harmony," said Yusnar Yusuf.
