REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Tens of thousands of 'Indonesia Against Genocide in Support of Palestinian Independence' massed the area of Patung Kuda, Monas, Central Jakarta, Sunday (12/10), reciting 11 points of the declaration as a form of solidarity commitment to the struggle of the Palestinian people.
One of the figures present at the event, Hidayat Nur Wahid, along with a number of community elements, Islamic groups, and humanitarian activists, called for continued support for Palestinian independence.
The peaceful action was also tinged with the reading of a declaration of nationality affirming the Indonesian people's position on the humanitarian issue in Gaza. Here is the full content of the 11 points of the declaration of Free Palestine action on the Statue of Horses (Patung Kuda):
1. Appreciate the struggle of a number of key countries including the Republic of Indonesia for the implementation of a number of intensive diplomatic efforts such as the New York conference of 28—30 July 2025 which have produced a comprehensive peace plan for Palestine. It also understands the attitude of key players including Hamas who agreed to Trump's proposal as the basis for a negotiated settlement of the Palestinian problem, particularly Gaza, with the main priority being the cessation of war and genocide, the delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as the reconstruction of Gaza that has been completely destroyed.
2. Asserting that the struggle of the Palestinian people, including Hamas and other resistance factions, is a legitimate form of self-defense against the colonization and genocide perpetrated by Israel and its allies. Such rights are recognized by international law as well as by the teachings of the world's religions.
3. Encourage the international community to increase sustained pressure through political, diplomatic, media, and people's movement measures for Israel to comply with the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people. Political, media, and public support of the Palestinian resistance is essential as an umbrella of protection for the Palestinian people's humanitarian rights and sovereignty.
4. Calls on all Indonesians to strengthen humanitarian solidarity, political advocacy, and public diplomacy for the Palestinians. Raise prayers, moral support, and donations for the Palestinian people and instill awareness that the defense of Palestine is part of the humanitarian jihad and religious mandate. Participants step on the Israeli flag in front of the Horse Statue, Silang Monas, Jakarta, Sunday (12/10/2025).
5. Ready to synergize with the government of the Republic of Indonesia to champion Indonesia's active diplomacy internationally to stop Israeli aggression. Urge the UN, the OIC, and friendly nations to take decisive action to protect the people of Gaza and oversee the process towards the liberation of Palestine as an independent and fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
6. Call on all Indonesians and Muslims worldwide to abandon divisions, reject normalization with the Israeli occupation, and unite in a united front of faith and humanity to defend the liberation of Palestine and safeguard the safety of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
7. Propose to the United Nations (UN) the creation of a Palestine Room at UN headquarters as a coordination center for preparations for Palestinian independence.
8. Urge the Indonesian government to take a firm stance against all forms of pro-Zionist propaganda and movements in Indonesia.
9. Urge the Indonesian government to open direct communication with Palestinian resistance factions to strengthen the Palestinian national struggle and thwart Israeli plans.
10. We appreciate the Indonesian government's consistent stance in defending and fighting for Palestine as an independent and fully sovereign nation and rejecting occupation. This includes rejecting the participation of Israeli footballers and athletes in competitions held in Indonesia. We hope that global sports organizations such as FIFA, the WBA, and the International Olympic Committee will emulate Indonesia's lead and act fairly by imposing sanctions on the Israeli occupation, as they have applied to others.
11. We urge all Indonesian youth to continue fighting for and advocating for true Palestinian independence, opposing all forms of oppression against the people of Gaza, and rejecting the presence of Israel and Zionists wherever they are.
