REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) is wary of extreme weather in fuel distribution in West Java to ensure smooth energy supply ahead of Eid al-Fitri 2025/1446 H.
Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati said that in general the supply of fuel, LPG, and electricity in West Java is in safe condition.
However, Erika said, it is necessary to be aware of extreme weather that can disrupt the distribution of fuel to gas stations, as well as landslides that can harm the community.
“We need to be aware of extreme weather that can disrupt fuel distribution, as well as landslides like the one in Sukabumi,” Erika said in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday (29/3/2025).
Tourist attractions located close to the volcano, according to Erika, also need attention because at any time their status can increase.
“The most important thing is that we remain vigilant,” Erika added.
Ahead of Eid al-Fitri 1446 AH, the government continues to improve energy services so that people can enjoy Hari Raya calmly and comfortably.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot accompanied by Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati conducted direct monitoring of the supply readiness, quality, and volume of Fuel Oil (BBM), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and electricity in Cirebon, West Java Province, Friday (28/3/2025).
Yuliot has ensured that the energy supply in West Java is more than sufficient, and has taken an anticipated step by increasing the stock in each fuel terminal. For the distribution of fuel and LPG, mitigation is carried out to overcome bottlenecks during their distribution.
“We are preparing mobile point to point, from the terminal to one of the gas station points to serve emergency conditions at other gas stations in order to be closer,” he said in the office of PT PLN Customer Service Implementing Unit (UP3) Cirebon.
Nationwide, fuel endurance stocks, which typically range from 20 days, are currently increasing to 22 days to 40 days depending on the type of fuel. The readiness of this fuel stock is expected to be enjoyed by the people who homecoming in Lebaran.
“Hopefully the people who will carry out the homecoming of Lebaran and will also celebrate Eid al-Fitri with their families will be able to enjoy the holiday with uninterrupted fuel availability and supply,” he said.
Not only stock availability, the Ministry of ESDM also ensures the quality and volume of fuel sold at gas stations according to the established specifications.
Yuliot monitors the Public Refueling Station (Petrol Station) Rest Area KM 270A Palikanci, Cirebon Regency, and checks the fuel consumption, as well as the accuracy of the filling volume of the filling station engine.
“We do color standard checks. So, the color standards are for Dex, Dexlite, Pertalite. The first one is precisely this we adjust to the color standard,” Yuliot said.
“Then, secondly, there is a specific weight standard for each type of fuel. So, with the specific weight standard, of course we see if it complies with the standard or not,” he said.
Standard checking of fuel color and specific gravity is carried out in layers. Starting during delivery from the Fuel Terminal, a re-check is carried out when the fuel will be fed into the fuel tank of the gas station.
“Every morning it will also be checked, both color, specific weight and also those related to the dispenser, whether appropriate or not. For volume, there are two checks, namely the capacity of 20 liters and 1 liter,” he said.
“The tolerance of the Ministry of ESDM is 100 milliliters (ml), but the Pertamina standard is 60 ml. From the results of the previous check, only 30 ml, much lower than the existing standard,” Yuliot added.
From the results of the checks, it was found that the quality meets the established standards. Thus, according to Yuliot, the public should not worry about using the fuel produced by Pertamina.
“From this delivery and distribution process, people should not have to doubt the quality that exists in Pertamina gas stations. Then, we also request a continuous report from Pertamina, it was checked by BPH Migas and the Lemigas Oil and Gas Testing Chamber,” he explained.
As for the supply of LPG, Yuliot continued, a stock increase of about 10 percent of the daily requirement has been carried out, which is expected to ensure the fulfillment of people's needs.
Especially to check the availability of LPG, Yuliot visited the Elpiji Bulk Filling Station (SPBE) of Ciayumajakuning Gas. He reviewed the gas filling process of the 3 kg tube LPG and interacted with the operator.
To better ensure the readiness of supply, Yuliot also visited Sukini LPG Base in Kesambi Subdistrict, Cirebon City and carried out random weighing of 3 kg LPG tubes.
Meanwhile regarding the readiness of electricity supply, Yuliot requested that PLN carry out maintenance early, so as not to cause disruptions during Eid al-Fitr.
“Earlier, PT PLN has prepared personnel and equipment that will stand by in PLN warehouses,” he added.
Also present at this event were BPH Migas Committee Member Eman Salman Arief, Director-General of Electricity Ministry of ESDM Jisman Hutajulu, Director of BPH Migas Sentot Harijady BTP.
In addition, the Director of Planning and Development of Oil and Gas Infrastructure of the Directorate General of the Ministry of Petroleum and Petroleum Laode Sulaeman, and the Expert of the Minister of ESDM for Lower Oil and Gas Governance Mulyono.
