REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- SOE Minister Erick Thohir stated that Himbara's General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) aims to make the management of state-owned enterprises especially in the banking sector more efficient. Erick added that in the context of the Ministry of SOEs as the supervisor of government banks, it always supports good corporate governance, transparency, and also improvement of company performance.

“As we know, many of President Prabowo's government programs require support from Himbara bank. Starting from the construction program of three million homes, agricultural programs related to food security, and the development of the MSME sector. On this basis, through BRI, Bank Mandiri, BNI, and BTN RMS, we will continue to push for improvement of Himbara bank's performance and its transparency so that other government programs can be accelerated,” Erick said in Jakarta, Thursday (27/3/2025).

Erick added that the Himbara GMS currently has not only the goal of maximizing support for the programs of Prabowo Subianto's government. Erick hopes that this will have a positive impact on the progress of the national economy, which is currently affected by the global situation with a variety of challenges such as financial market uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts, and economic slowdown in some countries. Although, Erick assesses, opportunities for improvement remain through growth in developing countries and strategic investment.

“We expect the impact of this GMS to be positive. Especially if yesterday we saw the number of Himbara who had already held meetings with public stock holders, yes the response was very positive in the market. We see the price of these state-owned shares in Himbara to be a very good increase yesterday. This proves that Mr. President's vision of how we should manage these state-owned enterprises is more transparent going forward, this is the main goal,” Erick said.

On this occasion, Erick explained that in order for the government program to work, while ensuring continued public transparency in the corporation, the presence of government representatives in the shareholders' composition in Himbara will be maintained.

“That's why we saw yesterday at BRI there were representatives from the Ministry of MSMEs, for example. Then we see from BTN there are representatives of the government in the housing sector. It is nothing but synergistic, but the issue of Supervision remains a priority because there is still supervision from the Ministry of Finance, BI and others,” Erick said.
