REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Sharia Economic Society (MES) Erick Thohir said that the Special Economic Area (KEK) of the sharia economy that was once established by the government will be fought back. This was stated by Erick when he was a speaker at the Musyarawah Kerja Nasional (Mukernas) IV Assembly of Indonesian Ulama (MUI) in Jakarta, Tuesday (17/12/2024).

In his presentation, Minister of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Thohir said the National Strategic Project (PSN) continues to be built by the Government in a sustainable manner to accelerate infrastructure development while supporting economic equalization programs.

“Sustainable development through national strategic projects means that we are encouraging areas that can drive economies rather than regions,” he said.

He exemplified, the government has built an industrial-specific economic zone in Batam whose impact is tremendous.

“Or we build Mandalika with his MotoGP it's also incredible,” Erick said.

At that time, according to him, there was also a thought from former vice president of the Republic of Indonesia KH Ma'ruf Amin that the government also build a special economic area for the sharia economy.

“Well, this is sorry it may be something that is pending that can be fought back to make this ecosystem happen. It's a place where it's certainly discussed,” he explained.
